The mathematical equations in the ‘Chalkboard’ design were conceived by Professors Derek Moulton and Alain Goriely of Oxford Mathematics, University of Oxford.

They describe the design as ‘Inhomogeneity,’ an unstructured tour of mathematics with aspects of complex analysis, the geometry of space curves, tensor products, morphoelasticity, stability theory, and Fibonacci construction.

Our designers used the mathematical information supplied by the University to create a repeating pattern in colours both complementary to the design and the rest of the collection.
